SGI Year 13 Student Coaches Lead Academy Soccer Camp In Scandinavia

Above we see a couple of our student coaches Will (centre) and Kieran (right) checking out their office for the day in preparation for U6-U11’s soccer sessions in Haugesund, Norway. April 2017.

Our students had the chance to travel to Scandinavia and coach the beautiful game to SK Nord’s youth teams ages ranged from 6-11 year old’s. Our coaches were greeted with a warm welcome in a cold town when they arrived at the immaculate football pitches.

When they got back from their trip we caught up with Will and Kieran and asked the pair how they found the experience teaching abroad. Will talked about how “fascinating it was seeing a different culture to what I’m used to.”” also stating how “Football mad.” all the kids seemed.

I asked Kieran how valuable the knowledge he has gained from the trip is and will be in his coaching career. Kieran answered “It’s priceless. I didn’t know what to expect when I got asked to go, but I am so happy I went.” Kieran went on to add “I couldn’t thank SGI enough for the opportunity and belief they have given me.”

Have our coaches set the foundations for the next Martin Ƙdegaard? We’ll have to see in the coming years to find out. Be sure to check out our webiste for more articles, interviews and information on how to join Will, Kieran and many other student coaches like them living the dream.
